MilitaryMilitary Outreach

Ministry Head:  Mike Moffitt (Former 82nd Airborne and Army Ranger Instructor)

Start Date:  December 2004

Ministry Vision Verse:  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” -Romans 1:16

Mission (Goal):  We want to reach as many military with the Gospel of Christ as He allows (Ephesians 5:16).  Our main focus at this time is to establish a consistent, weekly outreach to the Fort Richardson Army Base barracks.  As a mission to shoot for, we would like to see an active, military, Sunday school class with its members involved in other church ministries.

Impact Since Start:  To present, we have seen at least ten military members come to know Christ as their personal Saviour.  We have one young man that has joined our church, and is planning to begin Bible College in the near future.  In addition to numerous converts, many military members and families have been presented the Gospel by way of tracts, preaching, and soul winning.  The paint ball activities have been the most successful; however, we have also hosted wild game suppers, winter skeet shoots, and snow machine riding.

Difficulties To Deal With:  Probably the greatest difficulty to deal with at this time is sensitivity to the political correctness on the military installations, particularly the religious!

Special Notes (Things To Pray About):  Pray that we would have wisdom in designing activities that would draw single military personnel out to hear the Gospel.  Many times, the “tough guy” persona is a great obstacle to overcome.  Pray that the Holy Spirit would have free reign during the activities and visiting.Â
